Tomorrow is the second new moon after winter solstice, marking the beginning of Spring on the Chinese calendar, and the beginning of this Wood Dragon year (Chinese New Year begins Saturday). Interestingly, the Spring season is always associated with the element of Wood (energy of trees and all plants), as well as with the magical Blue-Green Dragon- along with the organs of Liver and Gallbladder, the sense of Vision, the climate of Wind, and much more (see blog archives for details and more depth). So a double dose of dragons is upon us, in a way! I love how all the rest of the Chinese zodiac signs are "real life" animals, many of them quite ordinary, and then the Dragon is just kind of in there too, bringing the magic to our everyday reality....
I'm taking this as a signal to let magic in to my everyday... being open to allowing hope and magic to be part of my reality... Yesterday I loved walking in the rain and trees, just being part of the rainstorm, and being present with my heart, which was feeling sad. Today I felt the magic of the sun and blue sky and bright green growth and pink blossoms and breezes and rushing waters, and felt my heart open to allow in some hope, and my mind open to allow in some magic... As this season inherently evokes magic- new growth and life exuberantly springing forth from where it was hidden…
