Dear all,
So many of you have been sharing with me how deeply affected you are, on so many levels, by the chaos, cruelty, and suffering happening in our country and our world in these intense times. I hear you. I feel you, with all my heart.
Maybe sometimes part of what we can do in the moment is to offer ourselves- and others- a soft place to land. To actually be the soft place to land. Do you know what I mean? Making your body and heart like a cushion or pillow, to embrace and hold; ease and comfort. Making a loving space within, so that anger and grief and fear can find a place to rest, to weep, to be cared for and supported. Making a place in your mind and spirit and whole being for hope, connection, love, joy, beauty, new visions.
Letting this deep love and care be soil from which our actions can take root and sprout, grow and thrive like the green green green vital life force of plants and trees that is also within all of us. And then sharing all of this with each other, and with our communities, and with the world, for an emergent radical transformation...
And I'd personally love to hear about any other inspirations you'd like to share, any activism you are participating in that feels meaningful, and/or how you're doing in general!
In other news (or perhaps relatedly?):
I'm thinking about the power of words and thoughts and belief to impact every level of our health in very real physiological (as well as psychological etc) measurable ways. I've done extensive reading and listening and learning about this over the years, and there are sooooo many great studies on these topics as well. And- I'm currently listening to a podcast about the nocebo effect and "medical hexing", so it's top of mind today. And what I want to say is this:
I believe (based on research, science, clinical experience, and my own heart's knowing) so very strongly in the power each of us has to heal ourselves. Our bodies, minds, and spirits, are incredibly powerful and resilient when it comes to healing and whole health. We can heal and mend and regenerate and revitalize in almost any circumstance. I hope, as a health practitioner, that I am embodying this belief in what I do.
I hope that you always leave a session feeling empowered around your health and healing, and trusting in your incredible and innate capacity to heal. I hope you know that I see your health, your vibrancy, your wholeness, and your strength. At the same time, I hope you know that I trust your instincts and expertise about your own body, and I always want to listen to your real and honest experience, the whole nitty-gritty spectrum of it, from frustrated and hurting to resilient and joyful.
We often focus on what we are working on changing (after all, that's why many of you are coming to see me, and it is helpful to know what feels out of balance in order to work towards balance), AND I also wish to offer you the reflection of your whole health, inner beauty, magic, and power. I would love for you to feel gorgeously aware of your inner resources and potential for transformation; to feel hopeful, strong, and confident. To feel your place in the web of all life, and to know that all life tends toward healing and balance (this is one reason I am able to feel hope in our world).
So, listen- I may sometimes need some help in transforming the narrative. If you notice our conversations are not reflecting the perspective outlined above, and would like to change that, I really encourage you to communicate that with me. Let's work together collaboratively, to co-create healing space and process that resonates deep within.
When I think about that kind of healing, I feel a profound delight and excitement, and a huge gratitude that I get to be part of this amazing work. Thank you to each of you for including me in your healing journey, I am truly honored.
With green alive blessings and love,
Shoshana
